The Fabric of Faith and Freedom. A Reflection on Dress Codes and Religion
Though they can seem like two distinct facets of life, dress standards and religion sometimes have significant overlaps. Both are closely related to culture, identity, and the demands society places on people. I saw early on how a person's views and manner of dressing may influence how they are regarded, how they express themselves, and how they interact with others. Religious traditions that promote modesty and ceremony, or school dress codes that limit what students can wear, both have an impact on how we live our lives and are seen by others. I have personally felt the affects of both clothing rules and religion, from attempting to blend in at school while adhering to my cultural values to taking part in religious rituals that strengthened my bonds with my family and my beliefs. My opinions on identity, acceptance, and social conventions have been influenced by these events. Knowing how clothing norms and religion impact individuals is not only a personal interest for someone aspiring to a profession in healthcare; it's also a crucial component of being a sympathetic and culturally aware clinician. I will discuss my own experiences and views on clothing standards and religion in the next two reflections, as well as how they have shaped who I am as a student, daughter, and prospective pharmacist.

Religion and clothing norms both have an impact on how we interact with the outside world, express ourselves, and are seen. They serve as a reminder of the conflict between tradition and change, as well as between individualism and community. I've been more conscious of my principles and the significance of respecting both cultural norms and personal identity as a result of thinking about these subjects. People should have the ability to make decisions that are consistent with their identity, whether that is what they dress or how they practice their faith. I want to be someone who listens intently, encourages people to express themselves, and values the experiences and convictions that make each individual special as I advance in life and in my work.
